Carolyn Perry, poet, critic and teacher, founded the San Jacinto Chapter of The Poetry Society of Texas in 1982. She was a graduate of Henderson High School, attended Baylor University, Stephen F. Austin University, and held a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from North Texas University. She had done her doctorate residence at the University of Houston and attended Exeter College, Oxford University in England on an I.I.E. Scholarship. On November 22, 2002, the City of Pasadena, Texas along with her beloved poetry society, declared that day to be Carolyn Perry Day.
